The objective of the project, which won the design competition announced in 2006 by Arsenale di Venezia Spa, is to ensure the preservation and enhancement of the historic building by combining these needs with the requirements arising from the planned new function as an exhibition space and cultural center.
The new structures are realized as autonomous entities.
These structures are distinct and easily identifiable in terms of materials and technologies, particularly with regard to the wall facings of the Tower.
This objective is accomplished through the strategic incorporation of dry vertical partitions, which are clad in Cor-ten steel sheets, to establish the new distribution system.
This approach is underpinned by a design philosophy that emphasizes the reversibility of interventions, ensuring that modifications can be easily undone in the future if necessary.
